Career Transition Letter – Former Military

May 10, 2009

Ted T. Simpson
1094 Ben Street
Troy, NY 12182

Dear Mr. Simpson:

The ability to motivate and lead large groups of personnel in high pressure situations is a skill I have honed during my time in the military. I have planned and directed multimillion-dollar projects with technical and tactical objects. These projects have been consistently awarded for effectiveness and accuracy.

After 15 years in the military I have chosen to pursue a civilian career. I am seeking an opportunity which will utilize my military experience in a corporate environment. The discipline, professionalism, and skills I learned in the military will be of benefit to any company who is seeking increased productivity and bottom line improvements.

My attached resume is detailed and comprehensive but it does not convey my passion and the depth of my team-building skills. My oral communication skills are also not conveyed in my resume. My desire to build effective teams has honed my ability to quickly build relationships of trust among colleagues.

I would appreciate the opportunity to interview with you and discuss how my qualifications can answer your needs. I will call later this week to confirm receipt of this letter and discuss the possibility of meeting with you. If you would like to contact me earlier feel free to contact me at your convenience. My phone number is (509) 967-3322 or by email at ejp@sampleemail.com

Sincerely,

Emmett J. Peterson
